PRESIDENTIAL PATHWAYS

Day 1: Owensboro

Depart St. Louis and journey through America’s heartland to follow in the footsteps of three of its presidents. Arrive in Carter Township, IN to visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, and see where Abraham grew from youth to manhood and how his life as a rural farmer helped transform him into one of the greatest leaders our country has seen. Continue to the banks of the Ohio River for dinner and an overnight stay in Owensboro, KY. D

Day 2: Hermitage

Retracing the path of Lincoln, arrive in Hodgenville and experience the nation’s first memorial to our 16th president, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park. Although it bears a striking resemblance to the monument in Washington, this memorial was erected 8 years prior and enshrines the symbolic birthplace cabin. Head south into Tennessee for a visit to an even earlier time at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. The estate of “The People’s President” includes 1,100 acres, his mansion, grounds, tomb, and a museum about the 7th president. Enjoy dinner and a 2-night stay in Franklin, TN. B, D

Day 3: Columbia, TN

South of Nashville sits the charming town of Columbia, TN, named a “Best Small Town” by Southern Living Magazine. It’s also the site of the Presidential Home and Museum of 11th president James K. Polk. Learn about how Polk expanded our growing nation from as far south as Texas to as far west as the Pacific Ocean. After the museum, enjoy time to explore the shops and restaurants in the charming town square before returning to Franklin. B, hot apps

Day 4: Fort Campbell

Before returning home experience a morning guided tour at Fort Campbell, on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. It’s here that the “Screaming Eagles” 101st Airborne Division, the only air assault division in the world, makes its home. Arrive in St. Louis mid-afternoon. B
