The company has grown steadily over the years, and now consists of 20 fantastic employees and offices in St. Louis, Indianapolis and Kansas City. Around the world Santa Claus has many names. But in a deep, swampy bayou of Louisiana, the Cajun Santa Claus is known as Papa Noël. Instead of delivering gifts by sleigh and reindeer, he travels in a boat pulled by eight alligators, with a snowy white gator named Nicollette in the lead!
Day 1: Little Rock, AR Depart for Little Rock to experience the wonder of the Christmas season at the historic Edgemont House with nationally-known home and garden guru, Chris Olsen. Tour the mansion entirely decorated with modern and vintage holiday decorations including 8 Christmas trees! Enjoy a delicious dinner before a private conversation with Chris about holiday gardens and decor. Overnight in Little Rock. D
Day 2: Lafayette, LA Experience a Cajun and Creole Holiday in Lafayette, LA. Martin Accordions opens their family owned business for a factory tour to see how they custom craft fine diatonic accordions. For a special treat, 3 generations of the family will demonstrate Cajun, Creole and Zeydeco music including Christmas tunes on these fine Cajun squeeze boxes! Will you dance? After dinner, feel festive walking the Acadiana tradition of Noel Acadien au Village alit in over ½ million lights. B, D
Day 3: Antebellum Estate Travel to the festive Houmas House Plantation and Gardens, the crown jewel of Louisiana’s River Road. A costumed hostess will guide through the 16-room antebellum estate filled with holiday décor, period antiques and Louisiana art. Walk amongst the majestic Oak Trees and lush gardens finely decorated for Christmas. Did you see the iconic Mr. Bingle puppet ornament? Enjoy brunch at *Café Burnside on the property before departing for New Orleans. Unpack for 3 nights at the brand new 1940s design themed *Higgins Hotel, prominently located on the campus of the National WWII Museum. B, L
Day 4: New Orleans – French Quarter Get to know the Old-World ambiance of New Orleans dressed up for the holidays as our local step-on guide highlights the distinctive history, customs and architecture of this romantic city. Visit a local cemetery to learn of their unusual burial practice. See the elegant homes in the Garden District with their columned porches, mighty oaks and verdant gardens. Need a unique Christmas gift? Explore and shop in the French Quarter and don’t forget to take a break for a scrumptious beignet at Café du Monde. It is tradition to experience a Reveillon meal during the holidays as practiced by Creole families in the mid-1800’s. Savor this authentic experience at Court of 2 Sisters located in the heart of the French Quarter. A special evening is planned to attend a holiday music performance (schedule TBD) at the St. Louis Cathedral and Basilica where the acoustics lend an air of reverence to the Christmas melodies! B, D
Day 5: New Orleans Visit the #1 attraction in New Orleans; The National WWII Museum. Explore the various galleries at your own pace and experience the popular Beyond All Boundaries 4-D Movie. Ring in the holidays with a bountiful feast and the talented Victory Belles as they present classic holiday tunes sung in beautiful harmony at BB’s Stage Door Canteen in the museum. What a Christmas memory-maker! Enjoy a magical tour at Mardi Gras World for an insider’s view of how the colorful floats are made. The evening is yours at leisure. B, L
Day 6: Christmas on the Plantation Travel north to the Frogmore Cotton Plantation and Gin, a Rand McNally “must see” in the South. Dating from the 1790s, explore the plantation with a costumed guide and get insight into Christmas on the Plantation and the contrast between the working cotton plantation of the early 1800s and the modern plantation. Feel the spirit of the season while seated in an 1800s plantation church to be serenaded with holiday music including O Holy Night – originally a French hymn! Overnight in Ridgeland, MS. B, L
