Day 1: Denver Fly into Denver and get your first glimpse of the Rocky Mountains as we travel to Colorado Springs. Experience the rich heritage and enduring legacies of the U.S. Olympics and Paralympics during a guided tour of the Olympic Training Center led by an Olympic athlete. Experience an authentic German dinner at a local favorite, Edelweiss German Restaurant, before we unpack for a two-night stay. B, D
Day 2: Garden of the Gods Experience the National Museum of World War II Aviation, which documents the historical importance of military aviation in our emergence as a world power during the Second World War. It is no wonder the song “America the Beautiful” was inspired by the views from Pikes Peak. After lunch at the foot of the peak in historic Manitou Springs, head to the Garden of the Gods for a guided tour of one of the most photographed natural wonders in the United States. B, L
Day 3: Canon City, CO Travel to Canon City and board the Royal Gorge Train for a 24-mile journey into the canyon and beneath the infamous Royal Gorge Bridge. Continue to Pueblo, home to four Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and the most visits by sitting U.S. Presidents of any city in the U.S. Enjoy free time to explore the Union Avenue Historic District and stroll along the historic Riverwalk. Overnight in Alamosa, CO. B, D
Day 4: Cumbres and Toltec Railroad Next stop – 1880! The historic, coal-fired steam locomotives of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad will take us on a memorable journey over high trestles and above yawning gorges adorned with brilliant gold foliage as we ride from Antonito to Chama, NM. Continue on the coach to Durango for a two-night stay. B, L
Day 5: Mesa Verde National Park Join a local guide for a fantastic adventure exploring Mesa Verde National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to over 4,000 known archeological sites and cliff dwellings. Return to Durango for free time to explore the charming downtown area before dinner in the historic Strater Hotel, built in 1887 and adorned with the largest collection of walnut antiques. B, D.
Day 6: Durango-Silverton Railroad Relive the sights and sounds of yesteryear aboard the Durango-Silverton narrow-gauge train. The line was originally constructed to haul silver and gold ore from the San Juan Mountains, but passengers soon realized it was the VIEW that was truly precious! Drive the “Million Dollar Highway” for free time in the little mountain town of Ouray, known as “Switzerland of the Rockies.” Overnight in Grand Junction, CO. B, D
Day 7: Colorado National Monument Experience sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive during a visit to Colorado National Monument – keep an eye out for bighorn sheep and soaring eagles! Travel through Glenwood Canyon, with towering walls 1,300 feet above the Colorado River, before arriving for lunch in Glenwood Springs. Overnight in Denver. B, L
