Day 1: Wine Country Fly into the San Francisco area and travel north through treasured vineyards to the privately owned Bouchaine Winery. Enjoy the first sip of wine, a tour of this sustainably-farmed vineyard and a farm-to-table dinner. Unpack for a three-night stay at the Embassy Suites Napa Valley and relax in a two-room suite amidst palm trees and a mill pond with resident swans! D
Day 2: Napa Valley A local expert shares stories and history on a guided journey of the Valley. Catch the grapes glistening on the vines while headed to Yountville for a “passeggiata” tour of this charming Napa gem. Raise a glass to toast your adventure at the world-renowned Robert Mondavi winery for a private tour featuring the path of grapes to cellar to finished wine. Return to Napa for free time to explore its Main Street. B, L
Day 3: Sonoma Enjoy a leisurely morning to choose a local activity. Perhaps stroll Main Street, take a hot air balloon ride or visit a winery (at own expense). This afternoon, the former mayor of Sonoma guides us from Napa, past the classic 18th century Domaine Carneros chateau, through the Carneros wine region to Sonoma, one of the area’s premier destinations. Learn the ins and outs of Sonoma on a guided Plaza walking tour and sample award-winning cheeses at Vella Cheese Co. Dinner is served at a local Sonoma hot spot before returning to Napa. B, D
Day 4: San Francisco At the di Rosa Center for Art, explore exhibitions of exceptional art by Bay Area-based artists. Take a walk in the summer air while viewing creative art in the Sculpture Meadow. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco and unpack for a two-night stay at the avant-garde Hotel Zephyr located centrally in the Fisherman’s Wharf’s area. Your afternoon is free to explore the Wharf area’s attractions and shops. Be sure to taste the chocolate at Ghirardelli! B, D
Day 5: San Francisco It’s off to explore the “city by the bay” with our local guide. Experience the architecture of the city, Chinatown, Golden Gate Park, Nob Hill, Cable Cars and many breathtaking views of the bay. Enjoy leisure time in Sausalito before returning to Pier 43 ½ to board a comfortable boat for a narrated Golden Gate Bay Cruise featuring views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. B, D
Day 6: Flight home Armed with wine expertise and new friends, return home. B
