Day 1: Overnight flight to Zurich, Switzerland

Day 2: Basel embarkation
Arrive Switzerland, enjoy a guided tour of Basel and embark on the Amadeus Brilliant. Get comfortable in your stateroom and enjoy a first-class welcome dinner as the ship cruises for Strasbourg, France. D

Day 3: Strasbourg
Enjoy a discovery tour of the beautiful city of Strasbourg, located in the Alsace region of France and the seat of the European Parliament. Begin with a panoramic coach tour and a walking tour featuring the Old Quarter, “Le Petite France”, the famous Cathedral Strassburger Munster and 500-year-old half-timbered houses. B, L, D

Day 4: Speyer – Heidelberg
Arrive in the Rhineland- Palatinate town of Speyer to explore the village which played an important role in the Holy Roman Empire during the Middle Ages. Enjoy an included half-day excursion to Heidelberg, a world-famous University City on the Neckar River. Our guided tour features a visit to the red sandstone ruins of the castle, gardens and Grand Terrace with incredible views of the city and Neckar River. Stroll the well-preserved Baroque Old Town to the Karl-Theodor Bridge and the late Gothic Church of the Holy Spirit. Tonight, the Brilliant cruises for Rudesheim. B, L, D

Day 5: Rudesheim – Rhine Gorge – Koblenz
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Rudesheim and take the unique Winzerexpress train to visit the “Siegfried Mechanical Music Cabinet” to see the historic self-playing instruments. Cruise the spectacular Rhine River Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring castles, fortress ruins and 430-foot Lorelai Rock, a steep slate rock formation on the bank of the River. Arrive Koblenz, strategically located at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine Rivers and, at 2,000 years old, one of the oldest towns in Germany, to see highlights including the St. Castor Basilica, Emperor Wilhelm Memorial and town landmark, the Schangel Fountain. Day 6: Cochem
A scenic morning cruise on the Mosel River brings us to Cochem, home of Reichsburg Castle and one of the most photographed villages in Germany. Enjoy a guided tour of the Castle and see why the fortified gates, pastel colored half-timbered buildings and a taste of local Mosel Riesling Wine will make Cochem a highlight of your vacation. The Brilliant cruises for Cologne this evening. B, L, D

Day 7: Cologne
Arrive Cologne, the cultural center of the Rhineland region, for a guided walking tour of the city including Old Town, Cathedral Square and the Cologne Cathedral, a World Heritage Site and the tallest twin-spired church in the world. Enjoy free time to explore an Old Town shop, café or “brauhaus” before a relaxing afternoon cruise towards the Netherlands. B, L, D

Day 8: Hoorn – Amsterdam
Arrive in the Dutch town of Hoorn and take a scenic drive to the traditional fishing village of Volendam for a cheese making demonstration. Cruise the famous canals of Amsterdam to get a sense of the history and wealth created during the Dutch Golden Age. The city center consists of 90 islands linked by 400 bridges and features nearly 7,500 registered historic buildings. B, L, D

Day 9: Keukenhof Gardens
Disembark and stroll the world famous Keukenhof Gardens for the incredible display of over 7 million blooming tulips. The “Garden of Europe” is open less than 2 months a year, and our cruise is timed to enjoy the spectacle. While the Gardens can trace its history to the 15th century, 2019 will mark the 70th anniversary since a bulb-seller’s consortium created the spring show phenomenon. Continue to southern Netherlands to Valkenburg for a 2-night stay. A “picture-postcard village”, Valkenburg is a quaint resort town and a perfect spot from which to explore the region. B, D

Day 10: Luxembourg
Travel to Europe’s smallest nation, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to explore the rolling green hills and villas filled with parks and WWII history. Visit Bastogne, site of the famous “Battle of the Bulge”, where an outnumbered force of Americans held out against long odds against the last major German offensive on the western front, preventing the Germans from reaching Antwerp and dividing Allied Forces. See the new Bastogne War Museum and visit the Mardasson Memorial, a poignant monument erected in honor of the 77,000 Americans wounded or killed during the battle. B

Day 11: Brussels
Explore Brussels, the “capital of Europe” and enjoy a guided tour of highlights including the Grote Markt, or Grand Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as one of the most beautiful squares in the world. See St. Michael’s Cathedral, famous for its 16th century stained glass window, the Palace of Justice and Manneken Pis, the best-known statue in Brussels which conveys a classic Belgian sense of humor. Overnight in Brussels. B, D
