About Mackinac Island and Grand Hotel
This tour features a 1-night stay at the iconic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island which is a full-service hotel with evening music/bars and spa services (your own expense). The Grand Hotel opened its doors in 1887 and has 397 unique rooms. No two rooms are alike! Mackinac Island was our nation’s second national park for 20 years. When the land was given to Michigan in 1895, it became its first state park.

Helpful Hints
Visit the Cupola Bar (ascending several steps required) at the very top of the Grand Hotel for spectacular views of the Mackinac Bridge, Lake Huron and Lake Michigan.

Located on the north end of Main Street on Mackinac Island, Doud’s Market (est. 1884) is a good place to pick up a quick snack or forgotten travel essentials.

Attire
There is a dress code for dinners/evenings at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island:

Since every evening at Grand Hotel is a special occasion, after 6:30pm dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies are preferred, while gentlemen are required to wear a suit coat, necktie and dress pants, no denim or shorts. This applies for all areas inside the hotel except for the Cupola Bar. Men’s Suit Jacket Rental: Suit jackets are available for guests at the Grand Hotel that forget theirs or if you don’t want to pack your coat. They come in a variety of sizes and there is no charge for them unless you don’t return them.

Walking Distance
Mackinac Island has a unique rule – no cars are allowed, so visitors explore everywhere on foot or in a horse–drawn carriage, enjoying a peaceful and eco-friendly experience. During the tour some walking will be on uneven paths and sand. Note: Sleeping Bear Dunes are accessible by extensive wooden boardwalks, allowing easy access to spectacular views.

Weather
Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the 50s. The ferry ride to Mackinac Island is about 25 minutes and there is outdoor and indoor seating available. Bring a jacket if you plan to sit outside, as it can be brisk.

Preferred seating may not be available on group air. In some cases, seats are not assigned until the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy seat on the flight; it does not include seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available at an additional cost.

To help make our tours the most comfortable in the business, we limit Sunrise Tours motorcoaches to 80% capacity, or 44 passengers on a coach built for 55. We reserve the right to amend this practice.

Your Tour Director will rotate seats on the motorcoach each day of your tour. A single fare does not guarantee two seats on coach; you may be seated next to another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
