Day 1: Wisconsin Dells, WI
Our journey north begins with a stop in the heart of Madison for a guided tour of the Wisconsin State Capitol building with stunning views of the city and surrounding fall foliage from the observatory deck. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in the Wisconsin Dells, recently named a Top Midwest Travel Destination by TripAdvisor. D

Day 2: The Tastes of Wisconsin
Did you know that Wisconsin is one of the world’s largest inland cranberry producing regions? Learn more during a guided tour of the Cranberry Discovery Center. Board a wagon pulled by Percheron draft horses for a delicious lunch deep in the colorful woods of Cabot, WI at Cabin Ridge. Visit Yellowstone Cheese to sample fresh squeaky cheese curds made from milk produced at the family farm next door. Continue to Chippewa Falls, home to Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co, for samples and a guided tour of the 150-year old brewery. Overnight in the St. Croix Falls area. B, L

Day 3: Great River Road Expedition
Visit Minnesota Interstate Park for a guided tour of the glacial potholes with a local naturalist. Autumn colors unfold as we take the Great River Road Expedition, one of seven suggested “American Drives” by Readers Digest. Learn about the history of the Red Wing shoe company during our visit to the flagship store and museum. Take a guided tour of the 146-year old history of the Watkins Heritage Museum, makers of pure vanilla extract. Unpack for a 3-night stay near La Crosse, WI. B, D

Day 4: Fort McCoy
Visit the only U.S. army installation in the state of Wisconsin, Fort McCoy. Learn more about the history of this Total Force Training Center during a guided tour with an officer stationed at the fort. Join our local expert for a guided tour of the nationally-recognized Chapels of St. Rose, an architectural and artistic treasure filled with Bavarian stained glass and Italian marble. Enjoy a wine tasting with incredible views of the Mississippi River before free time to explore the historical walking downtown mall on Pearl Street West. B, L

Day 5: La Crosse, WI
Our local expert returns for a historic tour of the river town of La Crosse, including a stop at the peak of Granddad Bluff, voted the most scenic sight in Wisconsin for views of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa decorated in the finest fall colors. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and sunset cruise aboard the La Crosse Queen, one of the few authentic Mississippi River paddlewheel river boats still in operation. B, D

Day 6: Return home
Enjoy our last views of the fall color as we return home. B
