Day 1: Nova Scotia
With passports in hand, fly to Halifax, NS and travel to New Glasgow area for an overnight stay. D

Day 2: Newfoundland
Travel east to North Sydney, NS. Board the modern MV Blue Puttees boat for a 96-nautical mile relaxing ferry ride. Peer over the side to catch a glimpse of whales, orcas, or dolphins while cruising to Port aux Basque. Welcome to Newfoundland! Travel to Corner Brook for an overnight stay at the Glynmill Inn. B, D

Day 3: Gros Morne National Park
Visit the great explorer/cartographer Captain James Cook’s National Historic Site and take in the impressive views. Travel past Deer Lake in the area Captain Cook explored in the late 1700’s into Gros Morne National Park; a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the park’s Discovery Centre and uncover how natural forces shaped the exceptional beauty and unique geological features of this area. Bring your camera for this afternoon’s boat cruise on Bonne Bay. Live commentary will highlight the geological wonders, rich cultural history and opportunities to spot eagle, moose, whales and seabirds. Become an honorary “Newfie” at a “Screech-In”,an age-old traditional ceremony, before heading to Cow Head for a 2-night stay. B, D

Day 4: Viking Trail Highway
Spend the day with a local guide as we travel the Viking Trail Highway to Arches Provincial Park to photograph the two large arches carved in the limestone rocks by the pounding sea. Arrive Port au Choix National Historic Site and learn how this bountiful coast has provided from early Palaeoeskimo to today’s inhabitants. Return to Cow Head. B, L

Day 5: Grand Falls and Gander
It’s off to Grand Falls to tour the Salmonid Interpretation Centre to see salmon migrating upstream (through underwater windows). Trace Newfoundland’s natural and human history at the Mary March Museum. This evening, whet your appetite for a tradition known as a “Jiggs dinner”! Unpack for a 2-night stay in Gander. B, D

Day 6: Twillingate
Visit Beothuk Interpretation Centre on Boyd’s Cove to hear stories and discover this aboriginal culture. Travel the “Road to the Isles” to Twillingate’s Long Point Lighthouse offering prime viewing over Iceberg Alley. Take a picture beside the fully reconstructed whale skeleton at Prime Berth Fishery and Heritage Center. B, D

Day 7: Terra Nova National Park
Experience the wonder where the forest meets the sea in Terra Nova National Park, as we hug the coast to the first English colony in Canada. Arrive Cupid’s Cove Plantation to see an active archaeological dig and join an expert for a private tour at the Legacy Centre exploring life in the early 1600’s. Head to St. John’s for a 2-night stay. B, D

Day 8: St. John’s
Tour the most Easterly point in North America with a local guide. Visit Signal Hill National Historic Site, Cape Spear, Cabot Tower, the Old Town, Quidi Vidi Village and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. This afternoon is free to explore on your own. B, L

Day 9: Atlantic Puffins
This morning relax or take an optional excursion (own expense) to explore Witless Bay Ecological Reserve aboard a nature boat cruise and see where millions of seabirds gather to nest including thousands of Atlantic Puffins! Travel to Argentia and board the MV Atlantic Vision boat for an overnight ferry ride to Nova Scotia. Get comfortable in your private cabin with windows, washrooms and side by side beds. Meals and entertainment are included. Relax in your room or in the reclining seats on the upper deck. B, D

Day 10: Halifax, NS
Arrive North Sydney, NS this morning and board the coach headed along Bras d’Or Lake and across Nova Scotia to Halifax, NS. Dinner and an overnight at the Courtyard by Marriott waterfront property. B, D
