Day 1: Memphis, TN
Our celebration of American manufacturing begins in Memphis, TN with a visit to the largest urban farm in the region and leader in agricultural field crop research, Agricenter International. Climb aboard open-air cotton wagons for a guided tour of the farm’s research in biotech seeds, farm equipment improvements, conservation methods and environmental projects, including their solar farm. Continue to Jackson, TN for an overnight stay. D

Day 2: Chattanooga, TN
Indulge your senses during a visit to Franklin, TN’s Schakolad Chocolate Factory, started in 1969 and family owned for three generations. Hand dip your own specialty chocolates during a hands-on demonstration with an expert Schakolatier and learn to recognize the differences in chocolate based on region and cacao level during a guided tasting experience complete with a private chocolate fountain! Head to Lynchburg, TN for a tasting tour at Jack Daniels Distillery, America’s oldest registered distillery and home to “Tennessee sipping whiskey” since 1866. Learn about the entire distilling process, from cave spring to mash, charcoal mellowing to oak barrels. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay where the luxuries of today are combined with the memories of a bygone era at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel, built around the historic 1909 train station and listed on the National Register for Historic Preservation. Day 3: Knoxville, TN
Head to Mayfield Dairy, established in 1912 when T.B. Mayfield purchased 45 Jersey cows and began to sell the milk to his neighbors. Enjoy a guided tour of the dairy farm – complete with an ice cream cone at the end! Arrive in Knoxville, TN for a microbrewery tour at Saw Works Brewing Company, located in the old Wallace Saw Works building. Enjoy one of their delicious, handcrafted beers served in a souvenir pint glass before a group dinner on Knoxville’s historic waterfront with a panoramic view of the Tennessee River and overnight stay. Day 4: Nashville, TN
Journey south to Pigeon Forge for a guided tour of the Old Mill, one of the most photographed mills in the United States. Step back in time as you watch millers grind thousands of pounds of grain with every turn of the giant water-powered wheel – the same equipment used when the mill was built in 1836. Learn about the history of BUSH’S Baked Beans, family owned for over 100 years, during a visit to the original A.J. Bush & Company General Store. Just don’t ask Jay or Duke for the Secret Family Recipe! Enjoy a delicious lunch of Southern specialties at BUSH’S Family Café before heading to Nashville for an overnight stay. B, L

Day 5: Bowling Green, KY
Travel north to Bowling Greene, KY to learn about the fascinating assembly process of America’s favorite sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette. Watch as robots weld the steel structure and the dedicated workforce adds parts in the trim and chassis. Witness the birth of new Corvettes from first start to the thrilling drive off at the end. Continue home to St. Louis with a greater appreciation for American productivity. B
