Day 1: Chicago
Travel to Chicago West Suburbs and visit Cantigny Park. Established by Robert McCormick (founder of the Chicago Tribune), the Park features the McCormick Museum, First Division Museum (WWI) and extensive gardens including 30-acre formal garden and an “Idea Garden” aimed for the gardener in all of us. After dinner at a local favorite, check into Embassy Suites, Naperville, IL for a 3-night stay. D

Day 2: Chicago
Explore the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens in Vernon Hills, IL. Completed in 1916 for Samuel Insull, the founder of Commonwealth Edison, the rose-colored villa was designed in Italianate style by Benjamin Marshall, with the surrounding gardens envisioned by landscape architect, Jens Jensen. Take a guided tour of the Sanfilippo Foundation’s “Place de la Musique”, in Barrington Hills, IL, known worldwide for its magnificent collections of beautifully restored antique music machines, phonographs, chandeliers, art glass, and the world’s largest restored theatre pipe organ. It also features the most spectacular European salon carousel in existence, street and tower clocks, steam engines
and other functional mechanical antiques, all displayed within a breathtaking French Second Empire setting. B, D

Day 3: Chicago
Experience Chicago’s lakefront at Navy Pier, see “the bean” at Millennium Park and enjoy an Architecture Cruise on the Chicago River. Visit the Art Institute of Chicago and enjoy free time to explore and shop on Michigan Avenue, the famous “Magnificent Mile”. After dinner at a downtown Chicago favorite, enjoy a performance of the Broadway hit “Aladdin” from lower balcony seating, as it launches its first North American tour at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre. Day 4: Return Home
Before we begin our journey back home, enjoy a guided tour of the Morton Arboretum. Established by the founder of the Morton Salt Company, the Arboretum is a 1,700-acre living museum featuring over 4,100 species of trees and shrubs from around the world. B
