Day 1: Georgia
“Just an old sweet song…” Our Georgia adventure begins with a flight to Atlanta, GA. D
Day 2: Savannah, SC
Our Southern Adventure continues in Macon with a tour of the Cannonball House. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home was built in 1853 as a planter’s townhouse and named for damage sustained during the War Between the States. Continue to “Georgia’s First City,” Savannah, for a delicious dinner overlooking the river before unpacking for a 2-night stay in the brand-new Fairfield Inn & Suites Historic Downtown. B, D
Day 3: Savannah, GA
Board an open-air trolley for a narrated tour of this enchanting Southern town filled with amazing architecture, rich history and gorgeous spring blooms. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Savannah at your leisure – you may want to grab lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room and explore the historic River Street filled with shops and galleries. Board the Savannah Riverboat for a relaxing cruise while enjoying historic sights, dinner and live entertainment. B, D
Day 4: St. Simons & Jekyll Island
Continue our journey to the Golden Isles of Georgia as we visit the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Historic Site. Continue to St. Simons Island to explore the charming shops, restaurants and walk on the pier for a gorgeous view of St. Simons Sound. In the late 1800’s, a group of millionaires sent a team of experts to locate an area with great natural beauty, excellent weather and privacy. They found Jekyll Island and proceeded to build the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, our home for the next two nights. Enjoy a historic tour of the property before an elegant dinner in the Grand Dining Room. B, D
Day 5: Jekyll Island
Enjoy a leisurely morning to explore Jekyll Island – you may choose to rent a bike, relax at the resort or take the hotel shuttle down to the beach. After a delicious lunch at the historic Crane Cottage, a narrated tram tour of Jekyll Island will take you throughout the Historic Landmark District and past the grand “cottages” which were the winter getaways for The Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and J.P. Morgan. B, L
Day 6: Americus, GA
After a leisurely morning, travel to Americus, GA to visit the Global Village & Discovery Center to learn how the non-profit Habitat for Humanity works to provide affordable family housing thoughout the world. Next visit the boyhood home and museum of Jimmy Carter, former president and important contributor to Habitat for Humanity. Continue to southwest Georgia for an overnight stay. B, D
Day 7: Callaway Gardens
Marvel at the sea of azaleas on a visit to Callaway Gardens, nestled in the foothills of the Appalchian Mountains. Enjoy lunch at the gardens before continuing on to Atlanta, GA for an overnight stay. B, L
Day 8: Return flight home. B
